Please allow us to introduce you to the Slacktivist Competition.

Our team wants to work with democratic and progressive groups across the country to help us engage with voters, constituents, and community members. Our campaign is for Illinois District 8, but a progressive movement is being built across the nation. You might even have family or friends living in District 8, and not even know!

That said – we want your help…

We want your organization to form a team of at least five members and participate in our slacktivist guide for winning elections!

What is it?

Okay… I know we’ve been saying “slacktivism” a lot.

Slacktivism: /ˈslæktɪvɪzəm/
the practice of supporting a political or social cause by means such as social media or online petitions, characterized as involving very little effort or commitment.

With our competition, we want to use slacktivism for good ,
for our campaign and our communities across the country!

Registered teams will have a series of opportunities that include boosting campaign social media posts, friend-to-friend texting, phonebanking, etc. to earn points in order to win the competition. All opportunities will include activities that you and your team members can do from the comfort of your couch! Easy, right?

Throughout the competition, there will be special tasks, such as posing with your “I voted” sticker (once voting begins) and additional dialer sessions. Teams will be able to track themselves on a leaderboard to keep up with how many points they have.

Important Dates:

Teams registrations will close on June 1, 2022. Competition actions will begin on May 25, 2022 and a team orientation will be held the same day.
The competition will officially begin May 25, 2022 and end on June 28, 2022 (when the polls close.) Team registrations will close on June 1, 2022.

Team Qualifications:

Teams must be associated with a democratic or progressive organization, non-profit, coalition, student group, or community group based in the United States.
Teams must consist of at least 5 members.
Teams must have one point person responsible for correspondence with the campaign.
Team members must download and use the app “Impactive” on their own devices in order to participate in the competition.
